A grant we got wrong
What happened, and what we changed.
Every point behind this sentence is one of them. Not a decoration — the field draws the figure we publish, and nothing else.
£1,186,900 awarded across 14 grants. These figures are added up from the grant records themselves, so they cannot drift away from the list below.
Nursery and family support in the first five years, where the evidence for what works is strongest.
Debt, housing and benefits advice, and the casework that follows when advice is not enough.
Community mental health provision outside clinical settings, with a bias toward long waits.
Grants under £15,000, decided in six weeks, with a one-page application.
Every application is read by two people, at least one of whom has worked in the field it is about. Trustees are unpaid.
Ten minutes on the phone will tell us both whether this is worth your afternoon. We would rather spend it than have you write a bid we were always going to decline.
There are no photographs of anyone we fund on this site. A picture of a person receiving help is a claim about that person, made on their behalf, and nobody asked them. So these are the rooms, the doorways and the play spaces instead.
